Video Audition

Submit the Dance Audition Application with the video

Record horizontally in landscape orientation with appropriate music

Include ballet barre: pliés, tendus from fifth, dégagés, rond de jambes, frappés, adagio, and grand battements

Include ballet center: pirouettes, adagio, and petit allegro

Include a jazz combination of about one minute with turns, jumps, and floor work

Include a modern combination of about one minute with turns, jumps, and floor work

Submit a full-body photo in dance clothing in a dance pose or first arabesque; do not use a performance photo in costume or makeup

Audition Requirements

Dance

Improvisational warm-up

Ballet barre and center work

Pointe variation when applicable

Jazz phrase

Modern dance phrase

Preparation

Applicants should have trained at least 10 hours per week for a minimum of three years

Demonstrate placement, coordination and épaulement, weight shifting, adaptability, and musicality

Application Logistics

Complete the Brenau Dance Audition Application as soon as possible and no later than three days before the selected audition

Submit the required headshot and full-body dance photo before the audition

What's The Process

Audition Process

All prospective dance majors audition for admission, placement, and scholarship consideration

In-person auditions are preferred; applicants unable to attend may submit a video audition by emailing danceinfo@brenau.edu

Scholarship candidates complete a brief faculty interview

Audition Expectations

Solid-color leotard with pink or skin-tone tights and footwear appropriate to the form

Bring pointe shoes when applicable

Men should wear a form-fitting logo-free shirt with black tights or leggings

Talent-based dance scholarships available

Recipients participate in brief interview with faculty following audition

Scholarship Expectations

Recipients receive contract of expectations including registration for technique and repertoire classes every semester

Participation in faculty and guest choreography and/or Gainesville Ballet Company required

Dance scholarships are part of total aid package announced by Office of Financial Aid
