Training
•Bullet: Admission to the Performance Track is by audition, normally at the end of the sophomore year
•Bullet: Track students work with the Performance Track advisor and their private instructor to choose performance-related electives on top of the BA Music core
•Bullet: Undergraduate Performance Track advisors are Robert Duff for vocalists and Joshua Gordon of the Lydian String Quartet for instrumentalists
•Bullet: Graduates of the track are prepared for advanced study toward a professional career in performance or music education
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: The track prepares two recitals: a half-length program in the junior year and a full-length program in the senior year
•Bullet: Senior Performance (MUS 118a,b) is the required capstone and may be a traditional recital or a larger ensemble project the student programs, arranges, and writes program notes for
•Bullet: Solo performers take Junior Recital (MUS 117a,b) as one of their electives; other track students take at least one performance-focused elective in the junior year
•Bullet: Three of the four required semesters of departmental ensemble should fall in the last two years of study
Facilities
•Bullet: Slosberg Music Center houses an electro-acoustic studio, 30 pianos, historical instruments, and a 200-seat recital hall
