Audition Process
•Admission requires an 8-10 minute performance on the primary instrument or voice
•An informal 15-20 minute interview with faculty in the major area is required
•A 15-minute basic theory exam is used for advising only and does not affect admission or scholarship decisions
•Choose a campus audition day, arrange an individual live date, or submit a recorded audition
•Bradley provides accompanists for vocalists and a 15-minute rehearsal
•Instrumentalists may bring an accompanist; Bradley does not provide one
•Brass: two contrasting standard solo/etude excerpts, no longer than four minutes each; full-range chromatic scale and three major scales
•Cello: a Bach Suite movement plus a 3-4 minute concerto/solo/technical excerpt; one three-octave major and minor scale or two orchestral excerpts
•Double bass: 4-6 minutes of contrasting orchestral, concerto, sonata, etude, jazz-line, or improvisation repertoire; two listed two-octave major scales
•Guitar: three contrasting standard solo/etude excerpts, no longer than four minutes each
•Percussion: standard solo/etude repertoire in two or three areas among snare, mallets, timpani, multiple percussion, or drum set
•Violin/viola: two contrasting standard works or one solo plus one technical study; one three-octave major and minor scale
•Woodwinds: two contrasting solo works or movements, one of which may be an etude; full-range chromatic scale and three major scales
