Three contrasting accompanied pieces representative of the audition repertoire; they need not be the same songs you plan to sing at the audition

One in English, not in translation

At least one selection must be by a composer from an underrepresented group

Opera arias are not permitted; appropriate oratorio or concert arias may replace an art song

The recording may not be edited for audio or video enhancement

Application Logistics

Submit the Boston Conservatory online application before accessing SlideRoom

SlideRoom instructions are emailed after the Conservatory application is submitted

Early Action: submit the application and required pre-screen by November 1

Regular Action: submit the application and required pre-screen by December 1; November 1 is recommended for the pre-screen

All music applicants list at least one recommender in the SlideRoom supplemental application

All undergraduate applicants complete a recorded online interview in addition to the artistic review

Eligibility

Fall enrollment only

A separate complete application and audition are required for each Conservatory program

Students may enroll in only one Conservatory program and may not pursue a double major

Transfer Pathway

Voice Performance applicants in BM Voice Performance receive transfer placement through the admission audition, transcript review, proficiency results, and first-semester jury; Boston Conservatory says most transfers finish in two to three years.

Audition Process

Submit the accompanied voice pre-screen through SlideRoom by the application deadline

Applicants who pass the pre-screen register for a final audition in the application portal under My Events

The final audition uses the same published repertoire categories as the pre-screen

Audition Expectations

A professional staff pianist is provided for on-campus auditions, though applicants may bring their own

The audition is followed by a short conversation and debrief with current voice students

All undergraduate applicants also complete a recorded online interview

Merit Scholarships

All entering students are automatically considered for institutional scholarships

No separate institutional scholarship application is required

Awards are competitive and based on the audition and application materials
