•Violin is one of four areas of focus in the 122-credit BM String Performance degree
•The department lists violin faculty Saul Bitran, Lynn Chang, Katie Lansdale, Markus Placci, and Caroline Pliszka
•Weekly applied lessons are joined by string pedagogy, orchestral excerpts, performance seminar, music theory, harmonization, improvisation, and sight-reading
Performance & Productions
•Every two weeks, students rehearse and perform with a new group such as a symphonic orchestra, chamber ensemble, string quartet, or Conservatory pit orchestra
•Eight instrumental-ensemble credits, six chamber-music credits, and two degree recitals create sustained solo and collaborative work
Professional Development
•Students may add Berklee and Conservatory electives in career skills, Alexander Technique, arts journalism, and nonverbal communication
•The department highlights violin alumna Gioia Gedicks performing Bach in Houston Hall
