Training
•CURRICULUM The Music major requires 10 courses (30 credits). Students complete music theory, foundational studies in Western art music, world music, and popular music, upper-level electives, and an independent senior project. The curriculum supports work across analysis, history, culture, composition, and performance without creating separate admission tracks. CAPSTONE & PLACEMENT The senior project can culminate in a thesis, project, composition, and/or performance presented to faculty and students. Students with prior theory study may take a placement exam and begin above Fundamentals of Music Theory. PERFORMANCE & STUDY Performance study can count toward elective requirements. The department offers study-abroad guidance for Music students.
