TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
•Liberal arts BA balancing theatre scholarship with hands-on practice
•Curriculum spans acting, directing, playwriting, design, dramatic literature, and theatre history

•Robsham Theater Arts Center features a 591-seat proscenium mainstage and the 150-seat Bonn Studio black box
•Student-run groups (Dramatics Society, Contemporary Theatre, Musical Theatre Wing) stage 4-6 additional productions annually
•Casting is open to all BC students, majors and non-majors alike
STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
•Over half of theatre majors pursue a double major in fields like English, Political Science, Business, or Education
•Undergraduate-only department — no graduate students competing for roles or design positions
•Student directing, original playwriting ("New Voices" festival), stage management, and design opportunities
•Biennial festival of original student-written plays

•Apply through the Common App — no separate theatre application required
•Apply to Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences; declare Theatre major after enrollment
OPTIONAL ARTS SUPPLEMENT
•Students interested in theatre may submit artistic samples via SlideRoom
•SlideRoom deadline: November 1 (ED I) / January 3 (ED II & RD)
•Not required for admission — intended to showcase theatre and performance background
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
•Theatre major requires minimum 11 courses plus production labs
•Foundation courses in acting, stagecraft, design, and dramatic structure
•Also offers Theatre Minor, Educational Theatre Minor, and Dance Minor

ADMISSION PROCESS
•No audition or prior theatre experience required for admission
•Students are admitted to Boston College through the university admissions process and declare the Theatre major after enrollment
•Prospective students are encouraged to visit campus and arrange a meeting with faculty
