Songs

THREE CONTRASTING SELECTIONS

•One song in English

•One song in Italian, French, or German

•One sacred song from classical sacred repertoire or traditional gospel song repertoire

Optional Selection

•One song from musical theater may be included but is not required

•Musical theater selections must be from pre-1960 productions

•May not substitute for the required repertoire

Preparation

•All selections must be memorized

•Piano accompaniment required (no band, combo, or orchestral backing tracks)

•Pre-recorded piano accompaniment permitted

•All repertoire must be substantive vocal literature (no pop culture songs)

•No electronic manipulation, reverb, or amplification

•Scholarship is merit-based, evaluated through audition submission

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Music is a dual-admission program

•Students must be accepted to both BJU and the Division of Music

•Step 1: Apply for admission to BJU

•Step 2: Complete the Division of Music section of the BJU application and submit audition videos

•Audition also serves as initial application for music merit scholarship consideration

Post-Enrollment

•Online Music Theory Placement Test required after admission

•Renewable annually up to four years

•Requires 2.0 overall GPA and 3.0 music GPA minimum
