Repertoire
•Brass and winds: two contrasting pieces from the standard solo literature of your instrument — one lyrical, one technical (two contrasting etudes may substitute, but solo literature is preferred)
•Strings (violin/viola/cello): one movement from an unaccompanied Bach work plus one concerto movement of your choice (cello also adds one Popper or Duport etude)
•Double bass: major and minor scales or an etude, plus one movement from a baroque/classical sonata or concerto (or a one-movement piece)
•Guitar: one transcription of a work written before 1750, plus one classical or romantic selection written for guitar
•Harp: Handel B-flat Concerto (first movement), the Tchaikovsky Nutcracker "Waltz of the Flowers" cadenza, and two contrasting solo pieces of your choice
•Percussion: one snare drum piece, one mallet piece (two or four mallets), and one timpani piece (two or four drums)
Scales & Technique
•Scales and arpeggios may be requested; recorded string auditions must include the scale/arpeggio specified for the instrument (typically three octaves)
Sight-Reading
•Sight-reading may be requested at the audition

•An accompanist is provided by the university
