Songs

MTCP Song Option B

Two contrasting songs, 60-90 seconds each

At least one song must be from the musical theatre canon

The second may be musical theatre or a contrasting genre such as pop, rock, hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul, folk, country, or punk

Demonstrate contrast in style, mood, and/or character

Accompaniment is required and should not overpower the voice; no a cappella submissions

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

One Monologue, 60-90 Sec

From a published play or written by a professional writer

Dance

MTCP Dance Option C

Dance video not required

Ballet

MTCP Ballet Option C

Ballet not required

Application Logistics

Apply through the Common Application or SUNY Application

The Fall 2027 university application opens August 1, 2026

After applying, respond to the Admissions form confirming Musical Theatre BFA intent and submit the portfolio through the application status checker

Priority: apply by December 1, 2026 and upload the portfolio by December 10, 2026

Regular: apply by January 15, 2027 and upload the portfolio by January 25, 2027 — regular applicants audition only if space remains

Binghamton follows MTCP Song Option B, Monologue Option A, and Dance and Ballet Options C; dance and ballet videos are not required

Audition Process

Apply to Binghamton University, confirm the intended BFA program when Admissions emails, then upload portfolio materials through the application status checker

Faculty review the portfolio and invite selected applicants to a live audition

Materials are submitted to Binghamton, not through Acceptd

Audition Expectations
