From year two, students tailor study through BIMM pathways including Performance, Songwriting, Production, Instrumental, Music Business (Industry), and Music Business (Live Events)

Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Repertoire List

Repertoire: Prepare one song around 3 minutes on Bass

Repertoire: song may be original or cover and may be performed solo or to a backing track

Accompaniment/backing track: bring or access any backing track needed for the audition

Scales & Technique

Be ready for major/minor pentatonic scales

Video

Video/audio demo: bring a demo recording of an original song composed using a DAW

Video/audio demo: demo should be different from the song performed live

Video/audio demo: demo does not need to be mastered

Video/audio demo submission: bring the demo on USB/mobile device or email a SoundCloud, YouTube, Spotify, or similar link ahead of the audition

Applicants may complete the BIMM audition, interview, or portfolio review before submitting UCAS; BIMM also sends assessment instructions after receiving the application

International applicants may apply directly through BIMM or through UCAS

What's The Process

Audition Process

Assessment is 1-1 with a BIMM assessor and lasts around 40 minutes

Applicants may attend in person at a BIMM campus or online on Zoom

Zoom applicants receive the joining link on the day of the audition

Applicants can ask questions about the course during the session

BIMM offers a remote demo submission route for undergraduate performance, songwriting, and music production courses

Remote submissions are marked by a BIMM assessor with feedback or an outcome by email

Audition Expectations

Follow the Bass section of the current BIMM combined audition/interview guidelines

BIMM sends preparation guidance in the audition booking confirmation

Technical requirement: be ready to play major/minor scales

Technical requirement: prepare a bass line, riff, or exercise of your choice
