Training
•Composition study integrates original work with music theory, technology, and individual instruction in small groups and one-to-one lessons
•Students begin in pre-composition status and, at the end of sophomore year, present a portfolio of original compositions for assessment before declaration of the major

•Residencies, reading sessions, special events, and collaborations with guest composers and performers provide settings to hear and refine new work
