•Perform one piece that showcases your level of competency in technique and expression

Recommended Repertoire

•Art songs or art song arrangements of folk songs (comparable to The First and Second Book of Solos, Joan Frey Boytim, G. Schirmer)

•New Imperial Edition collections by Northcote (Boosey & Hawkes)

•24 Italian Songs and Arias of the 17th and 18th Centuries (G. Schirmer)

Sight-Reading

•Students may be asked to sight-read during the audition

•Apply via Common App or Benedictine College application portal

•No separate program application required

Degree Progression

•Freshman jury/interview and sophomore barrier jury evaluate student progress

•Faculty assess course grades, applied area progress, and ensemble participation

•Sophomore barrier determines final status as a music major

•Senior recital required (public or semi-public before faculty)

•Senior comprehensive exam and portfolio submission required prior to graduation

•Audition is for the Music Participation Award, not required for program admission

•All interested students, including non-music majors, are strongly encouraged to audition

Recorded Audition

•Upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, or similar service

•Set share settings so anyone with the link can view
