•Teacher-education program meets Tennessee Department of Education licensure requirements, with reciprocity in many states via the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement
Training
•All majors choose a K-12 licensure track: vocal/general music, instrumental music, or (with added coursework) both
•Traditional-track private lessons are classical; the integrative applied track adds three semesters of commercial lessons in the principal area alongside seven semesters of classical study
•Eight full semesters plus a summer, culminating in a full semester of student teaching across elementary and secondary levels

Professional Development
•Instrumental track prepares K-12 band and orchestra directors; conducting study includes work with Dr. Barry Kraus, Director of Bands and Coordinator of Instrumental Ensembles
•Instrumental majors perform in the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, or Symphony Orchestra alongside methods coursework and school-site observations
