Audition Process
•Required for acceptance into the music program as a major or minor
•Audition scheduled at various times throughout the year based on campus visit
•Faculty assess musical skills and background to advise on the most suitable degree track
•Audition serves as both entrance and scholarship evaluation
What to Prepare
•Perform two contrasting selections that best demonstrate your ability on your primary instrument
•Be prepared to demonstrate scales and technical exercises
•A brief sight-reading exercise may be included (does not affect admission)
Audition Expectations
•In-person audition on campus preferred
•Video alternative available: submit recordings of two contrasting selections with accompaniment
•Schedule via the Entrance and Scholarship Audition/Interview form on the music department page
Post-Enrollment
•Piano proficiency examination and Sophomore Comprehensive Examination required
•Consistent improvement of musical skills required to remain in the major
