Audition Process
•Bullet: Required for acceptance into the music program as a major or minor
•Bullet: Audition scheduled at various times throughout the year based on campus visit
•Bullet: Faculty assess musical skills and background to advise on the most suitable degree track
•Bullet: Audition serves as both entrance and scholarship evaluation
What to Prepare
•Bullet: Perform two contrasting selections that best demonstrate your ability on your primary instrument
•Bullet: Be prepared to demonstrate scales and technical exercises
•Bullet: A brief sight-reading exercise may be included (does not affect admission)
Audition Expectations
•Bullet: In-person audition on campus preferred
•Bullet: Video alternative available: submit recordings of two contrasting selections with accompaniment
•Bullet: Schedule via the Entrance and Scholarship Audition/Interview form on the music department page
Post-Enrollment
•Bullet: Piano proficiency examination and Sophomore Comprehensive Examination required
•Bullet: Consistent improvement of musical skills required to remain in the major
