In-Person Audition
•Bullet: Contact your admissions counselor to schedule during a Discover Day or another campus visit
•Bullet: Identify your primary instrument or voice, the BA Music Education degree, and ensemble interests
Area-Specific Requirements
•Bullet: Wind/brass: two or three contrasting pieces showing fast playing, slow playing, and articulation; five chosen major scales, preferably two octaves; and a chromatic scale covering the instrument’s practical range
•Bullet: Percussion: two or three contrasting pieces on varied instruments showing fast and slow playing and technical proficiency
•Bullet: Strings: two or three contrasting prepared pieces or movements; a prepared etude showing highest technical capability, if available; and one chosen three-octave scale with arpeggios
•Bullet: Voice: two contrasting prepared pieces, preferably memorized and accompanied
•Bullet: Piano: two contrasting prepared pieces or movements, preferably memorized; and three chosen scales played in two to four octaves
•Bullet: Guitar: two contrasting pieces from the standard guitar repertoire, including an etude by Sor, Carcassi, Aguado, or Giuliani
Virtual Audition
•Bullet: Record a video introducing yourself and the repertoire, upload it to YouTube as unlisted/private, and email the link and any PDFs to music@belhaven.edu
•Bullet: Faculty schedule a follow-up video conversation after review
