No Audition Required for Admission
•The AA Music degree is open-admission — no audition is required to enroll
•Concert Choir and most ensembles are open to all students with no audition
Scholarship & Select-Ensemble Audition
•Audition required for music scholarships, performance awards, and select ensembles (Da Capo, Dolce, Hilltop Singers)
•All students must complete the Music Interest Contact Form before auditioning
Instrumental Audition
•Brass/woodwinds: chromatic scale (ascending and descending) plus solo, etude, or excerpts (~3 minutes)
•Percussion: excerpts on any two instruments (snare drum, mallets, or timpani)
•Strings: scales plus two minutes of a solo
-Violin: three-octave scale of choice
-Viola/cello/bass: two-octave scale of choice
-Guitar: natural and chromatic scales (first position) plus piece of choice
•Piano: two-octave scales (hands together, all keys, majors and harmonic minors) plus two contrasting pieces
-Piano performance majors: third piece from a different historical period, memorized
•Sight-reading assessed during all auditions
