Scholarship Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition for scholarship consideration only; it is not required for program admission.

Songs

Vocal Audition

•One song selection in any style that showcases your range and ability

•Sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" or "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" a cappella in any key

•Sight-singing and tonal memory will be assessed

Additional Materials

Repertoire List (Instrumental Audition)

•Brass and woodwinds: chromatic scale across the instrument's range, ascending and descending, plus a solo, etude, or excerpts of about three minutes

•Percussion: excerpts on any two of snare drum, mallets, or timpani

•Strings: scales plus about two minutes of a solo

-Violin: one three-octave scale

-Viola, cello, or bass: one two-octave scale

-Guitar: natural and chromatic scales in first position plus a piece of choice

•Piano: two-octave scales with both hands in every major and harmonic minor key, plus two contrasting pieces

-Piano performance applicants: add a memorized third piece from a different historical period
