•Bullet: The Instrumental Performance specialization emphasizes study of a primary instrument with the option of a secondary instrument, individualized attention from the music faculty, and private applied lessons.
•Bullet: The BM requires a minimum of 65 credits, including the 37-credit Music Core and at least 28 credits of specialization sub-core and electives.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Students have frequent formal and informal performance forums and can participate in guitar, piano, jazz, chamber, and other ensembles.
•Bullet: The BM structure includes a shared junior recital and a full senior recital for instrumental and voice students, alongside ongoing applied study.
Location
•Bullet: Miami Shores and the wider South Florida multicultural community provide a setting for collaborative music projects, performances, and service.
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: Barry integrates music theory, applied lessons, ensembles, liberal-arts study, critical thinking, writing, communication, and technology skills for future music employment.
•Bullet: Instrumental students prepare repertoire from classical or jazz traditions, with current audition guidance focused on classical piano and/or guitar.
