Training
•The Instrumental Performance specialization emphasizes a primary instrument with the option of a secondary instrument, individualized faculty attention, and quality private applied lessons.
•The BA requires a minimum of 39 credits: the 37-credit Music Core plus at least 2 credits of Instrumental Performance specialization requirements, leaving greater room for the broader liberal-arts degree.
Performance & Productions
•Students receive frequent formal and informal performance opportunities and can work in guitar, piano, jazz, chamber, and other ensembles.
•The specialization develops technical ability, tone quality, musicality, and style through repertoire, applied study, and music-core coursework.
Location
•Miami Shores and South Florida's multicultural community support collaborative projects, student performance, and service opportunities beyond the classroom.
Degree Flexibility
•Barry's music curriculum integrates theory into applied lessons, ensembles, and core courses while also developing critical thinking, writing, communication, and technology skills.
•Current audition guidance allows repertoire from classical and jazz traditions and notes that Barry offers instrumental performance degrees for classical piano and/or guitar.
