•Award-winning program participates in and provides leadership for KCACTF, Southeastern Theatre Conference, USITT, and the Alabama Conference of Theatre
•Theatre AUM is active in regional and national theatre organizations and connects students with external feedback and experiential opportunities
Training
•Students develop acting, directing, technical theatre, stage management, and communication skills through small classes, practicums, labs, and mainstage work
•Faculty include Neil David Seibel, whose professional credits include Off-Broadway, PBS, Denver Center, Alley Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and Theatre Aspen •Val Winkelman is a costume designer for Alabama Shakespeare Festival and Associate Artistic Director at Texas Shakespeare Festival; she has received the KCACTF Gold Medallion
Performance & Productions
•Theatre AUM presents live productions throughout the year for the campus and Montgomery community
•Students can work with visiting guest artists from stage and screen as playwrights, directors, musicians, performers, and faculty
•Hands-on practicum experience spans performance, design, stage management, and production support
Professional Development
•Students and alumni have earned paid summer internships or entry-level positions with Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Florida Repertory Theatre, Trinity Rep, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Red Mountain Theatre, and other professional venues
•Communication and Theatre faculty maintain professional networks that support internships and post-graduation opportunities
Degree Flexibility
•AUM identifies Theatre as an emphasis/concentration inside the Bachelor of Arts in Communication
•Students personalize the degree through electives, practicum experiences, and work in lab and mainstage productions
