What's The Process

Audition Process

•Admission to the BM in Performance requires a performance audition as part of the School of Music application

•In-person or video submission accepted

•Auditions are reviewed by a committee of applied faculty

•Scholarship consideration, including Pro-Musica, may be tied to the audition, but scholarship eligibility does not guarantee BM admission

•Current Augustana students may apply to transfer into the BM program after at least one semester

•Internal transfer applicants audition before a faculty jury with two contrasting selections and a written statement of intent

Post-Enrollment Gateway

•B.M. students also complete a sophomore-year audition process to confirm they are on the performance track

•Must maintain a grade of B or higher in applied lessons (MUSL)

•Progress in ensemble participation, coursework, and performance evaluated annually

Scholarship Info

Scholarship Tiers

•Pro-Musica: up to $8,000/year (audition required)

•Studio: up to $5,000/year (audition required)

•Music Honors: $4,000/year (All-State/honors participants)

•Ensemble: $1,000/year (ensemble placement audition)

•Bach Collegium: $9,000/year (requires Band or Choir participation)

•Viking Marching Band: $4,000/year (no audition, stackable)

Requirements

•Recipients must participate in a musical ensemble each semester

•Private lesson enrollment required (varies by tier)

•Lesson fees: $850/semester (50-minute) or $515/semester (30-minute)
