Audition Process
•No audition required for admission to the Music Education program
•Acceptance to the college allows you to pursue any major
•Optional scholarship audition is completed in person on your principal instrument
•Declared music-education majors meet with music-education faculty on their audition day
•Open to students of any major
Audition Expectations
•In-person auditions are 10-20 minutes
•Instrumentalists may bring their own accompanist, but most audition without accompaniment
•Notification of audition time approximately two weeks before the audition date
REPERTOIRE (by instrument family)
•Woodwinds: two contrasting movements or etudes, 3-4 minutes each
•Brass: two contrasting excerpts plus full-range chromatic, major and minor scales, 3-4 minutes each
•Strings: two contrasting excerpts plus a three-octave major scale (two-octave for bass), about 8 minutes total
•Percussion: two contrasting excerpts on snare, timpani and/or mallets, up to 10 minutes
Teaching Interview
•Indicate music-education interest on the application to be scheduled to meet music-education faculty on your audition day
