Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Repertoire

Brass, woodwind, and string applicants: two solo selections, or one solo and one etude of your choice

Prepared selections should contrast in style (one lyrical and one technical)

Percussion applicants: one marimba or xylophone solo or etude (two or four mallets), one solo or etude on four timpani, and one multiple-percussion or snare drum solo or etude

Audition Process

Auditioning students are automatically considered for music scholarships

Audition Expectations

In-person auditions on campus in February and March

Online audition video accepted in lieu of an in-person audition

Sight-reading is included in the on-campus audition but omitted from online audition videos

A staff accompanist is available for prepared repertoire

Auditioning students are automatically considered for all awards
