The Music, Human Development, and Learning degree (Bachelor of Music) prepares students to become educational leaders in K-12 and community-based music settings, centering methods for performing, creating, responding, and connecting to music across the lifespan (infant through senior citizen)

Two tracks: the K-12 Licensure track, accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board, culminating in 12 weeks of student teaching at a local public school; and the Community-Based track, culminating in a 12-week community-education internship

Audition Process

No entrance audition is required for Bachelor of Music admission

Students intending to pursue a music major in any of Augsburg's three music degree programs must declare their major, perform a first-year/transfer music major qualifying jury, and complete the Music Department degree application by the end of their second semester of study

Post-Enrollment

Students applying for a music performance award complete a performance assessment with Augsburg music faculty

Assessment options include in-person assessment days, independently scheduled on-site assessment, a video link followed by a live Zoom interview, or an online Zoom assessment/interview

Impact Scholarship

Merit-based scholarship covering at least full tuition ($47,600 for 2026-27) through Augsburg, government, scholarship, and grant aid

Renewable for up to 3 years

Open to incoming first-year and transfer students pursuing narrative, performing, or visual arts

Application is open for Fall 2027; all application materials, including auditions or portfolio, are due March 1, 2027

FAFSA required by March 1, 2027 for the Fall 2027 cycle (school code: 002334)

Must live on campus for each year of the scholarship

Fall 2027 notifications will be sent by April 1, 2027

Music Performance Award
