Audition Process
•Bullet: Admission to the music program is highly selective and based on an audition process
•Bullet: Students are admitted as music audition students and must pass the audition before enrolling in music major courses; applicants who miss the audition deadline must pass the audition milestone in their first semester at ASU
•Bullet: Music therapy applicants must also perform an audition to be considered for admission; see your instrument or voice section on the audition page for repertoire, and apply on the instrument you are most proficient on
•Bullet: Select your first-choice audition/interview date in the music application; ASU then emails your schedule, and special time requests cannot be honored
•Bullet: The faculty strongly recommend a live interview and audition on campus, and live auditions receive scholarship preference
•Bullet: A recorded audition is accepted (due February 1); recorded-audition applicants have the required music therapy interview during the Virtual Experience Day on February 13, 2027
Audition Expectations
•Bullet: You will be scheduled for an interview with the music therapy faculty to establish your potential as a therapist
•Bullet: Expect questions about your musical background and interest in music therapy and your experience working with people of various backgrounds and abilities
•Bullet: You will also be asked to demonstrate your singing voice
