Submit a 300–500 word essay describing your educational background, objectives and career plans

Repertoire List

List titles and composers of pieces studied intensively as solo repertoire, including technical studies

The degree prepares students to pursue K–12 music teacher certification

Recorded audition fee: 65 USD (live on-campus auditions have no audition fee)

Placement

Admitted students take music theory and aural-skills placement exams at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

What's The Process

Audition Process

Admission requires a performance audition on your principal instrument or voice plus a teaching-disposition interview

Live, on-campus auditions are strongly recommended and receive scholarship preference; a recorded audition due February 1 is available

Interview

Interview with the music education faculty about your musical background and your interest in teaching music

Recorded-audition applicants complete a virtual interview on February 13, 2027

Eligibility

All music majors are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships

Live auditions receive scholarship preference over recorded auditions

Undergraduate students may be considered for scholarship for up to eight semesters
