Audition Process
•Bullet: An entrance audition is required for the BA in Music; the Music and Culture concentration requires one only for applicants who want studio lessons
•Bullet: Prepare the audition for your instrument or voice from its section on the audition page; performance majors should anticipate a higher entrance standard than non-performance majors, and BA Music voice applicants prepare two selections of their choice that show their artistic strengths, flexibility and personality
•Bullet: Select your first-choice audition date in the music application; ASU then emails your audition schedule, and special time requests cannot be honored
•Bullet: The faculty strongly recommend a live audition on campus, and live auditions receive scholarship preference
•Bullet: A recorded audition is accepted (due February 1 for fall admission, November 1 for spring admission); recorded-audition applicants attend the required Virtual Experience Day on February 13, 2027
Audition Expectations
•Bullet: The BA in Music degree page lists a personal statement, a resume detailing your engagement with music and an example of your musicianship (for example a recording, SoundCloud page, blog, podcast, compositions or a research paper on music) as music application items; the music application page lists the artistic resume as optional outside voice and music theatre, so confirm with MDTAdmissions@asu.edu
