Prescreen Requirements

Monologues

TWO SPEECHES (FIRST-ROUND SELF-TAPE), each no longer than 2 minutes

•One speech from a modern play written after 1990

•One speech from a classical play using heightened language (Shakespeare or classical pieces from across the globe)

•Choose contrasting pieces to show range; choices need not be restricted by gender

•Both pieces should be within your acting age and performed in English

•Use your natural or heritage voice

Filming

•Submit both speeches together on one video (may be edited together from two separate takes)

•Film on a phone or any device, as production value is not assessed

Application Logistics

•Apply directly via ArtsEd (no UCAS)

•Auditions generally held Thursdays, November to June

•2026 entry applications are now closed

•Audition fee waivers available to UK residents facing financial barriers (contact he_admissions@artsed.co.uk)

Eligibility

•Applicants must be aged 18 or turning 18 by course start

•Two A-level passes or BTEC ND normally required

•Three GCSE passes or equivalent normally required

•Academic requirements may be waived if audition criteria are met

•Non-native English speakers: IELTS 7, TOEFL 100, or IELTS 6

What's The Process

Audition Process

•1st round is an online self-tape submission

•Film two contrasting speeches combined into a single video (can be edited together from two separate takes)

•Film on your phone or any convenient device

•Panel aims to respond within four weeks of each deadline

Audition Expectations

•2nd round is an in-person recall at ArtsEd in Chiswick

•Full day working with course tutors

•Recall format and preparation requirements provided upon invitation

•All BA Acting auditionees also considered for the one-year CertHE Foundation in Acting

•Online/video auditions available for international students (contact he_admissions@artsed.co.uk)

DANCE AND DRAMA AWARDS (DaDA)
