Training
•Bullet: The Technical Theatre Certificate combines academic instruction, production-floor training, and practical work in stagecraft, lighting, sound, scenic and prop construction, projection/video virtual production, stage management, costuming, and makeup.
•Bullet: Students work with advanced technology and materials including intelligent lighting systems, audio equipment, video projection equipment, stage machinery, set construction, scenic painting, and costume construction and design.
Professional Development
•Bullet: Coursework and practical work on theatrical productions give students experience relevant to entry-level technical theatre employment. The catalog also notes that internship, mentorship, and entry-level job opportunities may be available to candidates who meet and exceed expectations.
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: The current catalog requires 16–22 units: 9 units of required core courses, 3 units of Technical Theatre Production, and 4–10 units of approved electives. A recommended two-semester sequence combines stagecraft, theatre design, lighting, production, and electives such as music technology, drawing, welding, or electricity.
