Training
•The Technical Theatre Certificate combines academic instruction, production-floor training, and practical work in stagecraft, lighting, sound, scenic and prop construction, projection/video virtual production, stage management, costuming, and makeup.
•Students work with advanced technology and materials including intelligent lighting systems, audio equipment, video projection equipment, stage machinery, set construction, scenic painting, and costume construction and design.
Professional Development
•Coursework and practical work on theatrical productions give students experience relevant to entry-level technical theatre employment. The catalog also notes that internship, mentorship, and entry-level job opportunities may be available to candidates who meet and exceed expectations.
Degree Flexibility
•The current catalog requires 16–22 units: 9 units of required core courses, 3 units of Technical Theatre Production, and 4–10 units of approved electives. A recommended two-semester sequence combines stagecraft, theatre design, lighting, production, and electives such as music technology, drawing, welding, or electricity.
