•Bullet: AVC's Theatre Arts AA-T is production-oriented and combines academic study with practical work in live performances at the college's state-of-the-art space and Black Box Theatre.
•Bullet: The multidisciplinary curriculum includes acting, directing, scenery, costuming, lighting, theatre history, script analysis, stagecraft, design, makeup, and performance or technical production.
•Bullet: Course options include rehearsal and performance in drama, comedy, musical theatre, theatre for young audiences, and new works or small-venue performance.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Theatre Arts productions are integrated into coursework and give students opportunities to collaborate in performance and production. The curriculum supports both rehearsal/performance courses and technical theatre production.
Professional Development
•Bullet: The program supports career paths in live theatre, film, television, radio, video, computer games, public events, recreation, and arts and education programming.
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: The Associate in Arts in Theatre Arts for Transfer meets SB 1440 Associate Degree for Transfer requirements and is designed to provide lower-division major preparation for transfer to a four-year university. The 2025–26 catalog requires 60 degree-applicable semester units, at least 18 major units, Cal-GETC, a C or P in each major course, and a 2.0 GPA. AVC's transfer guidance says ADT graduates receive guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and priority consideration for a local CSU campus or similar program; it does not guarantee a specific campus or major.
