Repertoire List
•Bullet: Audition pieces are drawn from the current Texas UIL Prescribed Music List (PML); non-PML works may be approved by the audition chair in advance
•Bullet: Piano repertoire: two memorized contrasting PML compositions, one from any grade and one from grade two or higher
•Bullet: Strings repertoire (violin, viola, cello, double bass): two contrasting PML compositions, one from any grade and one from grade two or higher
•Bullet: Woodwind repertoire: two contrasting PML compositions, one from any grade and one from grade two or higher, or one solo grade two or higher and one contrasting All-Region etude
•Bullet: Brass repertoire: two contrasting PML compositions, one from any grade and one from grade two or higher, or one solo grade two or higher and one contrasting All-Region etude
•Bullet: Percussion repertoire: one snare drum, one timpani, and one keyboard composition from grade two or higher; drum set is strongly encouraged
Scales & Technique
•Bullet: Piano: white-key major and minor scales, hands together, two octaves, eighth-notes at quarter = 108
•Bullet: Strings: a two- or three-octave scale of your choice; double bass may use a one- or two-octave scale
•Bullet: Woodwinds and brass: major and minor scales plus the chromatic scale
•Bullet: Percussion: major scales on keyboard, two octaves, eighth-notes at quarter = 90
•Bullet: Sight-read after scales; percussionists sight-read on snare drum and keyboard
Accompaniment
•Bullet: A staff accompanist is available at no charge, or you may bring your own; you only need to provide a copy of your music if you need the school accompanist
