Letters of Recommendation (Required for Scholarship Auditions)
•Bullet: Minimum of 2 letters from someone familiar with your musical talent, or from a teacher, counselor, pastor, or similar recommender; vocal/piano letters may be hand-delivered or emailed to bcompton@angelina.edu, and band/guitar letters may be hand-delivered or emailed to pberler@angelina.edu
Sheet Music (Pianists, Band Instruments, and Guitar)
•Bullet: Pianists bring one extra paper copy of solo piano selections, not scales; band and guitar students bring two extra copies of audition music for the judges; vocal/piano video submissions should email a scanned copy of solo piano selections when applicable
Repertoire (Required for Scholarship Auditions)
•Bullet: Voice: Sing two (2) contrasting songs (genres) of your choice. Only sing 1 verse and chorus of each song. Your selection should show your range and your strengths. Memorization is preferred. One (1) song can be a cappella if you choose, but the other must be accompanied (live or with track). If using a karaoke version or CD to sing with, bring your own device and any cords needed. If you need a keyboard or guitar, please arrange for that before the time of audition
•Bullet: Piano: Play two (2) solos of your choice. Prepare to play 3-4 major scales (choose from those you have studied). Your selection should exhibit your skills and technique. Memorization is optional
•Bullet: Band instruments and guitar: Perform two (2) pieces or movements in contrasting styles from the standard repertoire of your instrument. Band music is not permitted to be used as audition material
•Bullet: Band instruments and guitar: Major scales (selected by the judges at the audition); chromatic scale (full range)
