Audition Process
•Open-admissions community college with no audition required for program admission
•Prepare two solos of your choice
•Prepare 3-4 major scales chosen from those you have studied
•Memorization is optional
•Prepare two pieces or movements in contrasting styles from the standard repertoire of your instrument
•Band music is not permitted as audition material
•Major scales are selected by the judges at the audition
•Chromatic scale should cover the full range
•Music theory and piano aptitude tests are basic-skills checks only and are not determining factors for scholarship selection
•No accompanist is needed or provided for band and guitar auditions
Audition Expectations
•Music scholarships are available for band, choir, piano, and guitar students, including students who are not music majors
•In-person: request an audition time to meet on campus; dress formally
•Video submission for vocalists and pianists: record and email your audition, maximum 4 minutes total
-Introduce yourself and mention your school or music program
-Use good lighting and avoid background noise
-Announce each selection before performing
