Training
•Bullet: UAF's Music Minor requires 18 credits and offers two distinct tracks with no substitutions between them: a Nonperformance emphasis (12 credits of theory, ear-training, piano, and history, plus 2 large-ensemble and 4 private/class-lesson credits) and a Performance emphasis (6 foundational credits, 4 large-ensemble credits, and 8 credits of private lessons and chamber music)
•Bullet: Both tracks require two semesters of MUS F190 Recital Attendance; performance coursework requires an audition and is subject to studio and ensemble space availability
Location
•Bullet: Minor students study alongside UAF's BM and BA Music majors in the same studios and large ensembles — Choir of the North, Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble — the only performing arts music program in interior Alaska
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: Every course counted toward the minor requires a grade of C or better, and the catalog directs students to contact the Music Department for advising before registering for performance coursework
