Requirements

•Two Contrasting WORKS, ~10 min total

•Two vocal works of contrasting style

•Together should be approximately 10 minutes in length

•Video submissions must be unedited (no editing of audio or video)

Admission Pathway

•Audition required for all students seeking a music degree

•New students may take music classes in fall with the understanding they will audition next semester for formal admission

•123-132 credits total for BM Music Performance

•Piano Proficiency requirement (by exam or Functional Piano series)

•8 semesters of Recital Attendance required

Program Requirements

•Must complete Singer's Diction I and II (English/Italian and French/German)

•French or German language coursework required as part of general education

•Language selection made in consultation with voice advisor

•Only music majors are eligible for music scholarship awards

•Must audition and be admitted as a music major to be considered for scholarship

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

•Auditions typically held in February for fall admission

•Must complete the online audition request form to schedule

•Students in the Fairbanks area must audition in person on campus

•Students outside the borough may audition in person or submit an unedited video

•Upload to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link

•Video must be unedited

Scholarship Info

Music Scholarships

•Only music majors are eligible for music scholarship awards

•Must audition and be admitted as a music major to be considered

•Multiple named scholarships available (Salisbury, Anderson, Hallinan, Fejes, and others)

Scholarship Application

•Submit: letter of intent, performance video (two contrasting works), two letters of recommendation (one from a music teacher), and transcripts

•Materials deadline: March 1 for Music Department scholarships

•Financial aid paperwork deadline: February 15

•Email materials to uaf-music@alaska.edu with subject line "Music Scholarship"

•Awards announced in late spring for the following academic year
