•Bullet: An audition on the major instrument is required for all students seeking a music degree
•Bullet: Admission to the teacher education program is required before student-teaching placement
•Bullet: 120-credit minimum for the BM in Music Education
Program Requirements
•Bullet: Piano Proficiency requirement (by exam or the Functional Piano series)
•Bullet: Six semesters of Recital Attendance required
•Bullet: Music methods sequence taken across voice, strings, winds, brass, and percussion
Licensure
•Bullet: Program leads to Alaska teacher certification and licensure
•Bullet: For licensure outside Alaska, review state-specific requirements with the department
Placement
•Bullet: Admitted students complete music theory and ear-training coursework; placement is determined in consultation with the music faculty — for course placement, not admission
