Scenarious Thurmond is an artist, performer, writer, and activist from the Southeast. She prides herself on being multidisciplinary and letting each art form that she practices inform the others. Scenarious currently serves as a teaching artist for several different organizations in the southeast. She is also the Co-founder of Dirty South Arts, an organization dedicated to uplifting black and brown artists from the south. Scenarious received her BA in Sociology at Georgia State University and graduated May 2025 with her MFA in Acting from Columbia University School of the Arts. She has taught theatre to students virtually, in person and even abroad in Dominican Republic. She is currently represented by the Luedtke Agency. She likes to create art that is inspiring, contrary, and silly.
Specializations
I am a firm believer of the transformative power of the arts. Being on stage can help with confidence, communication and so many other skills. The art of performance can lead to self-discovery, which in turn can affect the way that we move through the world. It teaches people how to be themselves, know themselves, accept others, and challenge the status quo. When you commit to working with me you commit to pursuing who you are authentically on and off
stage. It’s not just about the art, it’s about living. I like to approach teaching and acting as a holistic practice.
